Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red 2007, California #AgedWineTuesday Ruby in color with a reddish rim. Not showing it's age. Pretty nose with black currants, black plums, blackberries, licorice, cedar, herbs, tobacco leaf, chocolates, dark coffee, pencil lead, light earth and peppercorn. Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, spices, toast, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, earth, light alcohol, peppercorn, green tea and herbs. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Showing a great nose right out of the bottle. Rich and extracted, yet elegant. Very complex and spicy. Smooth, yet powerful. Does not feel like it's 18 year old at all. This Cabernet Sauvignon from the great 2007 vintage in Napa Valley is showing beautifully now. Fully matured, but has enough energy to last it much longer. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years. I love these aged Napa Bordeaux blends. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Thank you Mike for sharing this with me. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. Aged for 18 months in (79% new) French oak barrels. 15.2% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $175.

Still young and will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years. Very complex already, and very entertaining. Powerful and velvety. Showing a surprisingly beautiful nose already, especially considering its young age. I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent. So far, my favorite vintage of it was the 2016. A fabulous sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. A small production of less than 1,500 bottles. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $235.

Pellet Estate Pellet Vineyard Merlot 2018, Napa Valley, California

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose with cooked plums, cedar, chocolates, black pepper, spices, light earth and tobacco leaf.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, currants, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light cinnamon and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Single Vineyard Merlot from Napa valley. Elegant and nicely balanced. Fruit forward, rich and complex.

This 7 year old Merlot is drinking beautifully now and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

The nose feels very fresh and complex. Showing a touch of Right Bank Bordeaux feel, which makes it more interesting.

Needed an hour in the decanter to open up properly and balance itself out.

Good by itself as a sipping wine and good with food. Will pair nicely with lamb chops or grilled meats.

100% Merlot grapes were aged in French oak barrels. A tiny production of only 300 bottles.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
