Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with cooked cherries, raspberries, currants, peppercorn, licorice, light oak, herbs and light vegetables. Short finish with soft tannins, tangy raspberries and black tea. This is a very interesting Malbec from Arizona. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and smooth. Showing more red fruits than I expected, and doesn't feel like one from Argentina or France. Needed over 2 hours in the decanter to open up properly, so be patient. The high alcohol is not too noticeable. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with pizza. 100% Malbec grapes were aged in used French oak barrels for 16 months. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $60.

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim, and medium plus intensity.

On the nose red cherries, plums, red currants, light oak, chocolates and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light oak, chocolates, spices, coffee, licorice, light tobacco leaf, earth and herbs.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 5 year old Merlot blend from Pomerol feels very young and not showing its age at all. Fruit forward with nice complexity and good balance. Elegant with good structure.

Starting to drink nicely now, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime, when the tannins show up and bring more structure. Spicy and entertaining.

Good by itself or with food.

A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months.

13.5% alcohol by volume.
