This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder is starting to drink very nicely now. Tangy and spicy. Complex with a nice mouthfeel. Tangy and engaging. Showing good structure, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly. Fruity, but not in your face kind of wine. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be interesting to revisit it in 5 years. Needs a couple of hours in the decanter to open up properly. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from vines grown at 2,400 feet of elevation, were aged in (70% new) French Oak barrels for 24 months. It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish, cloudy rim. Red fruits on the nose with light oak, tobacco leaf, herbs, earth and light chocolates notes. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, herbs, light vegetables, earth, dark chocolates and peppercorn. Nice finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries. This 10 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Saint Estephe is starting to drink beautifully now, but still feels young. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 94+ point wine in 10 years. Rich, but not extracted. Soft and elegant. Fruity and complex. Nicely balanced and interesting. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with food too. A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged in all New French oak barrels for 20 months. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $180.

Chateau Clinet Pomerol 2016, Bordeaux, France Beautiful color of dark ruby with a wide reddish rim. Elegant nose of blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper, eucalyptus, licorice, herbs and Mediterranean spices. Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, light oak, spices, dark chocolates, light mint, coffee, peppercorn, licorice, herbs, light earth and black tea. Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Merlot from the great 2016 vintage in Pomerol. Nicely balanced and fruit forward. Still young and restrained, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but drinking so well already. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine. Rich and chewy. Complex, entertaining and good by itself as a sipping wine. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 16 months in (70% new) French Oak barrels. 14% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $150.

Good right out of the bottle and good by itself or with food. A blend of 95% Merlot and the rest is Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% alcohol by volume. 89 points. $15.
