The bird in the center of the photo is an American Goldfinch. I believe it is a male, not yet in mating season. During mating season the American Goldfinch will have bright yellow feathers with a wide black stripe on the top of its head. This bird is starting to get the brighter yellow feathers. The branches are leafless, anxiously waiting for Spring when the leaves are back. The brown background is due to a combination of shade, evening sun and a field with wheat colored weeds.

Male downy woodpecker - his red bit of feathers on his head is barely noticeable. The female does not have red feathers at all. This bird is slightly bigger than a sparrow. He has a few black and white stripes on his head. One of the black stripes covered his eyes, almost looks like he is wearing a mask. His back feathers and wings are black with whit dots. Tail feathers are black and white. The background is the clear blue day in the afternoon.

Background is grays and brown from the branches of the leafless trees. The sky was slightly overcast at the time of this photo today. The American Robin is sitting on a very thin branch. His orange chest feathers stand out in the other muted colors. His head is mostly black with a yellowish black (with a black tip) and a white circle around its eyes. His feathers on his wings are gray and brown with some black mixed in.
