I’ve shared some parts of their story, but know that for every thing I share, I have another 10 ideas saved that I don’t know if I want to bring out as comics, Lore Drops or outright start writing a longfic. So for now I’m going to share some of the things that I find most touching about their relationship: • They know that what they have is very special so they don’t take it for granted; it’s common for them to have sudden outbursts of affection towards the other, almost as a way of thanking them for their love and companionship. • They share certain aspects of their trauma and have very similar defense mechanisms, so in difficult times they often don’t need words to understand each other, and both are grateful for that unspoken agreement. • Trust is an integral part of their relationship; as they began to be more open with one another, it was as if they fell in love all over again. • Their differences in character and insecurities complement each other, they generally have a very balanced energy. When one falters the other is ready to pick them up. • Not everything is always smooth, often the pain of the past creeps into the good times, making them bittersweet, but they are both sure that no matter what happens, they will be together to face it.

How it started: Guajillo is a product of a multiplayer run, which was supposed to be simply chaotic, but I can’t help becoming attached to my tavs, so my chaotic bard ended up being a hopless romantic, obsessed with epic novels and who may or may not secretly write fanfic. So it’s no surprising that he fell for the owner of an impressive library, right? Well it was to Guajillo, he loves to flirt with handsome men (meaning all the male companions), and it wasn’t until Elminster visited them for the first time at camp, that he realized that beyond the thrill of managing to fluster the wizard, his heart yearned for such closeness, and the thought of losing him forever showed him how much he longed for a future with him. Guajillo quickly becomes Gale’s rock and is determined on showing him that he is enough as he is; at the same time that he overcomes his own hero complex, and realizes that with Gale, he doesn’t want to experience that idealized version of love he used to have, he wants the raw and honest version, something only they’ve experienced, theirs and only theirs.
Random Facts: • After the epilogue, to everyone’s surprise, they have an intimate wedding, although not at all austere; where Gale recreates the starry night in which he confessed his love, while Guajillo plays a ballad he composed to his now husband. More than one of their friends cried. • Guajillo was a little anxious about being liked by Tara and Morena, but he immediately feels accepted and they become very close. His only disagreement is with Tara about Gale’s beard, Guajillo loves it. • With Gale’s help, Guajillo is writing his first original novel. • They have a little game of hiding short poems between the pages of the book the other is reading. • Both are super chatty, they can spend hours and hours discussing any topic without noticing the passage of time. • Gale loves to watch Guajillo playing any instrument and occasionally accompanies him on the piano. • They regularly go out on dates and especially enjoy going out dancing.

Why SanguineAlegría? Sanguine comes from the bloodlust that Amaranto and Astarion share, but it also has to do with that feral side of all three of them. While the Alegría part, represents the more tender side of the polycule. Alegrías are a typical Mexican sweet, made from amaranth (Amaranto) seeds and honey; as it is common to use the word honey for Halsin’s ships, my mind immediately went there.
Brief timeline: • It was formed more or less as shown in game, but with a short pause between the end of Act 3 and the epilogue, as the three of them decided it was better to give themselves some time to grow independently, before trying to put all that chaos together in one house. • Initially Amaranto lived with Astarion in the Under Dark and kept in contact with Halsin through letters. When both communities were more established, To began alternating between the two for a couple of months at a time. • Eventually both the Spawns and the Community in Reithwin choose new leaders, and that’s when they begin to look for a new home. Some facts: • When the three of them attend special occasions, Astarion is the one in charge of coordinating their outfits, he loves to get glances from the other guests. • Astarion and To are grateful for the stability that Halsin brings to the household, while he celebrates the chaos that these two bring to their lives. • They are very independent and usually each one does their separate activities, so dinner is their favorite time, where they all get together, take turns cooking (Halsin taught them), and have long, pleasant chats. • Out of my three ships, they are the ones I could see forming a small family, with one or two babies around, but who knows, for now I have to finish this run.
