A landscape oriented image. Directly in foreground is an ornate rail in Japanese style. The frame is green and yellow the balustrades are red. Beyond it is a pond and on the far side of that is a Japanese summer house, or rather someone’s interpretation of one, this is predominantly red. It is surrounded by trees Biddulph Grange belongs to the National trust and in there words “is a masterpiece of Victorian garden design - a quirky, playful paradise”, which describes it very well.

Photograph taken from under the Chinese pavilion looking towards the bridge at Biddulph Grange Gardens in Staffordshire. Not my best photo but lost four years worth of photos (dropped my former phone in a tub of decking oil). The scene shows a small red, white and green Chinese-style bridge over a pond into which reflects the surrounding winter and evergreen trees and shrubs. Taken in late autumn/early winter on a bitterly cold day. The garden is Grade I listed and is one of my favourites. It was designed by James Bateman in the mid C19th. It has lots of different themes in addition to the Chinese garden including Egypt, Italy and a fabulous stumpery. Run by The National Trust.

Photograph of the Chinese pavilion at Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire. Predominantly red, ornate structure reflected in the pond beyond. Although it was taken taken late autumn, the scene is still quite green from the ferns on the pond banks. This bit of the garden sits in a dip so it is quite protected from the elements. One of my top three gardens. Under the care of the National Trust.
