What Can Be Done to Mitigate Soil Contamination? Testing: Conduct soil tests to identify specific contaminants and determine the extent of damage. Remediation: Use soil amendments, such as activated charcoal, biochar, or organic matter, to bind toxins and restore soil health. Avoid Disturbance: Disturbing ash-covered soil can release toxins into the air. Minimize movement and use protective gear when handling soil in affected areas. Vegetative Recovery: Planting cover crops or native vegetation can help stabilize the soil and encourage the reestablishment of healthy microorganisms.
Today, the day before we get rains in #Altadena, I will go straight to vegetative recovery cover crops.
I have #CaliforniaWildflower seeds.
The back yard has a lot of bare dirt (OHAI, #EatonFire ash!) awaiting full landscape plan.
Today I will SOW ALL the Seeds 🌱

On cutting mat, a cut out sheet id paper is now assembled into the bottom of an open square box that holds square folded papers. One of the paper envelopes is partially unfolded to reveal the wildflower seed inside. Another sheet of paper is printed with a box lid (labeled “Victorian Puzzle purses for Seed Saving). An Xacto knife and triangle and glue stick are also near the box construction and assembly.
Practical #Papercraft for #Gardening
Folded some Victorian Puzzle Purses to hold 🌱 seeds I collect (or swap, a #CaliforniaWildflower mix here, thanks neighbor!)
At this site, made template for box to hold empty seed packets (all based on US Letter paper)
