Did I need a Mae West 10-incher? Yup. Especially for two bux at the flea market this morning. I know many like her campy "rock" album from the 60s on the Tower label, but this 1950 LP is the Mae West I wanted to hear. Campy. Supersexuallysuggestive lyrically. And fun with really odd electric organ & piano backing at times (which feels like Korla Pandit trying to play Art Tatum by way of Fats Waller). All these tracks were issued on 78s on the same label. Was she the Cardi-B of her generation? In her own way, perhaps...
