Mokuhanga abstract print by Susannah Hera of Chimera Press with neutral medium blue flanking either side of an undulating shape that comes to a point in the upper left quadrant. The flanked shape is grey in the bottom third, sea foam in the central third, and cool, muted yellow in the top third. Gomazuri and baren-suji are utilized by the artist to render the image.

Abstract full bleed mokuhanga woodcut with a large non-representational rounded shape in the upper right quadrant in red with atenashi bokashi in the outer half of the shape. There is a strong darker red atenashi bokashi with bleeding lines around the edge of the dominant shape. The majority of the surface area of the print has gray values in gomazuri. Thin white bars with rounded ends cut through the surface and behind the dominant shape. Pale indigo bokashis exists at the bottom left corner and right side along the entire edge.
Different take on an abstract with the same blocks. In the moment gut decisions, sensing the direction the work desires, is such a different process from my usual approach, feeling compelled to make a particular piece. #art #print #woodcut #blockprint #mokuhanga #printmaking #abstract #chimerapress
Silkscreen in the traditional Japanese kacho-e “bird and flower” style. Two Japanese White-Eyes are feeding at the end of a cherry tree branch in bloom. The blooms are two-tone pink, there is a 3-color bokashi sky in blue and peach color below the branches.
