Vor einem erhöhten Gartenbeet liegen vier rechteckige Strohballen nebeneinander. Davor stehen von links nach rechts zwei blaue Obstfässer mit Pflanzenkohle, ein grosser transparenter Sack Holzschnitzel und zwei blaue Obstfässer mit Bokashi.

Doing some bokashi compost prep today, mixing up a batch of activated EM. Bought a second hand dehydrator to dry out the bran once I get to that step which should be a big improvement to letting it air dry! #compost #bokashi 🌱

A hand cranked compost drill aerator and turning tool. Two handles offset for turning the shaft which ends in a large corkscrew style attachment.
Got myself this tool for turning our #compost bins. It's really handy and works great. It doesn't so much "turn" as "churn"
It drills down easily, then you pull it out, rinse and repeat. Combined with the #bokashi it's going to improve our #composting

So, nearly two weeks in. One #Bokashi bin is nearly full. It seems to be working well. Not having a sense of smell myself I've had to ask my wife to sniff them for me but they smell fine (apparently)

So, set up our #bokashi #compost fermentation system. Had the unpleasant job of going through our food waste in the kerbside food waste collection bin , chopping it up and layering it, lasagne style, into the left hand caddy with the bokashi starter.
Time will tell if it's a success.
