Eine Goldwespe mit leuchtend metallisch-grünem Kopf und rot-violett schimmerndem Hinterleib sitzt auf einer beigen Nisthilfe aus Naturmaterial. Das Insekt zeigt die charakteristische intensive Metallfärbung der Chrysididae-Familie, wobei besonders die großen dunklen Augen und die feinen Körperhaare im Makrodetail sichtbar sind. Die Wespe befindet sich wahrscheinlich auf der Suche nach Wirtsnestern anderer Solitärbienen oder -wespen.

Eine Goldwespe klettert rückwärts in ein Nistloch an einer hölzernen Nisthilfe und zeigt dabei ihre vollständige Körperzeichnung. Der metallisch schimmernde Körper weist die typische Farbverteilung auf: grün-türkiser Kopf und Thorax sowie rot-violett glänzender Hinterleib. Die feinen Antennen und Beine sind deutlich erkennbar, ebenso wie die strukturierte Oberfläche des Chitinpanzers, der wie ein lebender Edelstein funkelt.

#Goldwespen gibt es in vielen schwer unterscheidbaren Arten. Hübsch anzusehen, aber haben diese Brutparasiten ein Wirtsnest gefunden, klettern sie rückwärts in die Bruthöhle und legen eigene Eier ab.

#Chrysididae are a reason to become an entomologist. This Chrysis sp. has been in my collection for years. Distinctive surface pitting and iridescence set them apart. They're called cuckoo wasps for laying eggs in other species' nests. #macrophotography #entomology #invertebrate 🌿
