Micronesia fell in October 1914 as follows: #Jaluit Atoll 3rd, #Kosrae on the 5th, #Pohnpei and #Yap on the 7th. The next day, #Koror and #Palau, followed by #Angaur on the 9th. #Truk (now #Chuuk) Atoll was captured on the 12th, #Saipan on the 14th, and finally #Rota on the 21st. 2/4
Surface analysis and Himawari-9 satellite image of the Western Pacific basin. A low pressure area off the Malay Peninsula has a medium (40%) chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next 7 days, although this will likely not occur until the low has exited the basin and moved into the Bay of Bengal. A large cluster of thunderstorms located south of Chuuk is associated with a tropical wave, and it has a high (70%) chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next 7 days. This system will move quickly westward at a relatively low latitude before approaching the Philippines early next week.
It may be December but the Pacific #typhoon season runs year round. A tropical wave currently located S of #Chuuk is forecast to close off into a low pressure area late this weekend, and it could become a tropical cyclone as it approaches #Mindanao ( #Philippines ) Sun/Mon.
