New post: In this month's blog status update, I've once again switched the blog's backend away from WordPress, to (again) ClassicPress. Third time's the charm... I hope.

[Article: Do Contact Forms Attract More Spam than Email Addresses?]
David Bushell, Luke Harris, and Kev Quirk all shared how they got less spam from exposing their email addresses on their personal websites than they did through their contact forms. That's not my experience, though, and I think […]
The one thing keeping me from migrating from WordPress to ClassicPress is the excellent ActivityPub plugin.
Its great, but i wish i had the time to port all the broken parts to the ClassicPress way of doing things i.e. the WP things that have changed since 4.9
A screenshot of the ClassicPress General settings page where there's an option to replace the login page logo with a new logo image or banner image. In this example I'm using a cute photo of an Adipose character from Dr Who as he is being tractor-beamed up into the mothership.
Good morning. I'm taking a closer look at ClassicPress and posting some screenshots of the changes the ClassicPress team has made. #wordpress #classicpress
Starting with the general settings page, there is an option to replace the ClassicPress logo on the login page:

I switched my site to www.classicpress.net a while back and it's been rock solid ever since. It removes loads of old code from the admin side so it runs way faster. Easy to convert WordPress to ClassicPress and uses all the same plugins.

#ClassicPress
The other week I switched my weblog, which has been running on #WordPress since 2004, to @classicpress.
So far, it's been great (with only a few minor challenges). #ClassicPress provides (almost) all the features I love and none of the ones I don't need.

[Article: WordPress to ClassicPress]
A few weeks ago I switched this blog to ClassicPress, a fork of WordPress. Here's a deep dive into how (and why) I did it, as well as a look into what my experience so-far has been with this (mostly-)cut-down version of the world's most popular CMS.

[Reply: Reply to Ed Catmull on Change]
Matt talked about change, and mentioned the history of WordPress. I weighed-in, talking about my (positive) experience of open source in an environment of change, and contrasting it to fighting with Squiz CMS at the Bodleian!

Inspired by Geneveive Raine's "The Continuum", I turned all of my blog post's featured images into a stripey picture.

I have belatedly become aware of #ClassicPress, a fork of #WordPress. It doesn’t have lots of WP features that I dislike and don’t use. I shall be looking into this more closely.

Seeing some really positive signs in the ClassicPress community right now! New folks looking to migrate, new themes coming and plugin developments including the fork of WooCommerce 😀

Does anyone have any experience with ClassicPress? Good/bad? Thoughts?
**Hardening ClassicPress?**
"There are plenty of articles on the web about how to harden/secure WordPress, which seems to ship with a lot of exposed vulnerabilities. I’m curious how much of that also applies to ClassicPress and what the “best practices” would be?"

I like working with the WordPress block editor (less so with FSE). But just for giggles, I decided to check out #ClassicPress and see how it has come along over the years. While I wouldn't really want to go back to the classic editor, I gotta admit that some of its features are intriguing. I like:
I have lost trust in WordPress.org and removed my little contribution. It can now only be found on my website.

I also highly suggest people move away from WP. Look at ClassicPress if you want a truely open CMS.
