A bright comet with teal glow. A faintly visible tail going up and to the left. There's a very bright star to the right.
My first comet photo! This is C/2025 R2 SWAN which is fading, but it's up a bit later after sunset so it's been an easier target.
There's a much brighter comet in the mornings but I'm trying it later this month. (It's called C/2025 A6 Lemmon if interested.)

This week Comets C/2025 A6 Lemmon and C/2025 R2 SWAN will both be passing their closest to Earth and will probably be at their brightest. Lemmon should be about 5th magnitude, SWAN about 6th. Both are in binocular range in a good sky.

Finally got a picture of Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN). It was less than 4 degrees above my west-southwestern horizon, as seen from the western slope of Colorado, just 61 minutes after sunset. It's at a magnitude of 6.2, not bright enough to see by the unaided eye. 1/2 #astronomy #space #comet #cometswan
