Quick Review: Domaine Artema Winery Gamay and Rose Village 2024 Today, I'm easing us into the colder weather with a 2024 Rosé and a Gamay wine made by Oliver's Domaine Artema Winery.  Gamay is a red wine grape with less tannins and more acidity, making it easier to sip on its own as well as being food friendly.  The Rosé wine uses Pinot Noir primarily with a substantial amount of Gamay.

Domaine Artema Winery Village Chardonnay and Village Pinot Gris 2024 Have you heard of one of our newest BC wineries, Domaine Artema Winery?   The winery is located on Black Sage Road in Oliver, just down the road from Burrowing Owl. They opened their doors to the public earlier this year.  This winery notes that it specializes in Chardonnay and Gamay Noir wines.  Gamay Noir is the grape grown primarily in Beaujolais, France, just south of Burgundy.

A Pacific Northwest Sauvignon Blanc and a BC Rose to Enjoy Today Well, the really bad, rainy weather is not yet here, so I decided to taste a white and a rosé wine.  Red wines will come soon enough.  Today I have the Gold Hill Winery Cabernet Franc Rosé 2022 and the Township 7 Vineyards & Winery Interlude Sauvignon Blanc 2024, with the latter being made in BC, but using WA state grapes due to our terrible winter in 2024 which killed many grape vines in BC.

My Last South Okanagan Stop to Taste Wines with La Stella Winery My last winery visit while I was staying in the Osoyoos area was the La Stella Winery.  I met with tasting room manager, Wade Martin, as he poured me their recent wine releases and discussed wines in general.  Their winery like other Okanagan wineries was affected by the 2024 winter blast.  Out of 70 acres of planted vines, they were forced to rip out just shy of 30 acres.

Quick Review: Two Frizzante Wines from BC’s After 93 Vineyards & Estate Winery If you have not heard of After 93 Vineyards & Estate Winery, you are not alone.  It was also new to me.  But, it is owned by the same family that operates Bordertown Vineyards & Estate Winery in Osoyoos, BC.  In 1993, the Gill family embarked on a journey to Canada with the aspiration of forging a brighter future.

My Swirl Around BC Wine Picks Fall 2025 This week we had a trade event featuring the latest BC white wines, many from 2024, as well as some red wines.  In 2024 we had a terrible winter freeze that killed most of the grape vines in the interior of BC, so BC wineries were given permission from the BC government to source grapes from outside BC.  Many winemakers brought in grapes from Washington and Oregon.
