Two Expressions of Joseph Drouhin Chardonnay: Part 1 Maison Joseph Drouhin from Burgundy makes several different expressions of Chardonnay.  I received four bottles of their various Chardonnay wines, and in this article I will review two for you.  According to the winery, their Macon-Villages 2022 comes from a large region in the south end of Burgundy, close to Pouilly-Fuissé, which has clay and chalk soils. The size of this region allows considerable freedom in selecting wines with different characteristics.

Round Two of the Battle Royale: Hester Creek Estate Vineyard Garland vs The Judge 2022 Six months ago, in August 2025, I tasted BC's Hester Creek Estate Vineyard Garland 2022 and The Judge 2022 Bordeaux-style red blends.  These are their top tier Origin wines.  Both wines were made in the epic year of 2022 when weather conditions and the harvest was perfect.  At that time I first tasted these wines, both tied in my wine rating.

Two Chardonnay from Fort Berens Estate Winery, From Both Here and From There I have two #Chardonnay from Lillooet's Fort Berens Estate Winery.  One wine, made in 2023 comes from their estate grapes, while their 2024 Chardonnay grapes come from WA state, with the wine made in Lillooet.  Lillooet, as well as the Okanagan, was hit hard by the 2024 winter cold snap, killing many grape vines, necessitating the purchase of grapes from outside our province for one season.

BC’s Gold Hill Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and Charisma Cabernet Merlot 2021 Today I have two wines for you from south Okanagan's Gold Hill Winery; their Gold Hill Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and Charisma Cabernet Merlot 2021.  Charisma is their second label.  Charisma wines curates charming approachable everyday drinking wines.  There were scattered forest fires in the BC interior in 2021, but the winemakers at that time did not notice any smoke taint during the winemaking process.
