An empty expression on a Styrofoam head. Pins are stuck deeply into the face, through a fine mesh. The mesh is for a lace-fronted wig which is being customized by adding more hair to the hairline.

I've never done this before but I think it's working. o3o

Until recently! I pulled out what Worbla I had and got to work on the parts of armor that I prefer not to make from foam- the hip and chest plates. They got cut and shaped fairly quickly once I finally found my 2yr old patterns.

The finishing touch on my Claymore armor is a #resin that stays pretty flexible, called Art Resin. It's low odor & resists yellowing. (That said, I still keep my window open, air filter running, and put a box over my pieces as they cure to mitigate any fumes.)

The armor is actually fake and made with foam, but has been covered with layers of graphite to give a distinct dark steel color with metallic shine.

For color on #Claymore #armor I use graphite and a series of brush on acrylic materials. Per piece, there are at least 3 coats of graphite buffed into the surface, with an isolation coat in between them. That coat is applied with a very soft brush to minimize visible brush strokes.

Left is my first pattern- see how the plates curve inward too much?

On the Right-- I adapted the shape a little, to glue to a different point on the inside and IIRC, *did not* bevel the edges.

Next up, patterning!

Compared to other armors I've made, she has a lot of small parts to assemble into larger segments, and Claymore armor is very clean cut, so I went through a lot of small tweaks and iterations.
