A colour photograph in landscape format. It shows the rear facade of a modest country house which looks out to a lawn with flowerbeds. As it is Spring, the flowerbeds have tulips and muscari, and there are clipped evergreen domes. Lovely!
Erddig Hall, from 2016
The rear facade which overlooks this lovely lawned area with flowerbeds taken in Spring 2016. The different types of brickwork suggests extensions to the building over time.

Elevation of Raynham Hall, taken from the garden.
Also in Norfolk is Raynham Hall, the family home of the Townshend family. Sir Roger Townshend was the founder of the present day hall, beginning work in 1621.

Looking across the hidden moat to Madresfield Court. The estate has been home to the Lygon family for over 900 years and has never been bought or sold since records began in 1120. Reconstruction in the Victorian Gothic style was begun in the 1860s. In the early 1930s, it seems, Lord Beauchamp was forced to leave the country by King George as a result of his unspeakable goings on there with the servant class.

Campus walk to my first #countryhouses seminar at Earlham Hall building at the University of East Anglia this morning. Picture perfect. Setting the scene nicely.
