7/41 Pyramids by Terry Pratchett, reread as a part of #discworldmarathon. Really interesting look at power, religion, and going too far. I am only 1 reread away from a previously unread Discworld book, and though it’s going a bit slow I am enjoying my marathon very much.

5/41 Sourcery reread is completed! Enjoyed it very much, some parallels with Equal Rites. I wish we had some overlap of Coin and Esk. But it really was a great read.

#discworldmarathon read 4/41 — Mort! I reread this book only in 2023, so it was a slow reread. It’s one of my absolute favorites, a first full look into Death’s domain and a coming of age tale. Absolutely love it.

The image shows a hand holding a book - Sir Pterry Pratchett's Sourcery. It has a very interesting yellow cover that I cannot even begin to describe! In the background can be seen the doorway of a train, so far empty but by the time I get to my destination at least 15+ people will all be packed in here like sardines!!

Quote from Discworld book Mort by Terry Pratchett : “SEE THE MAN NEXT TO HIM! WITH THE LITTLE MOUSTACHE AND THE GRIN LIKE A LIZARD? Death pointed with his scythe.
'Yes?'
HIS COUSIN, THE DUKE OF STO HELIT. NOT THE NICEST OF PEOPLE, said Death. A HANDY MAN WITH A BOTTLE OF POISON. FIFTH IN LINE TO THE THRONE LAST YEAR, NOW SECOND IN LINE. BIT OF A SOCIAL CLIMBER, YOU MIGHT SAY. He fumbled inside his robe and produced an hourglass in which black sand coursed between a spiked iron lattice-work. He gave it an experimental shake. AND DUE TO LIVE ANOTHER THIRTY, THIRTY-FIVE YEARS, he said, with a sigh.
And he goes around killing people?' said Mort. He shook his head. 'There's no justice.
Death sighed. No, he said, handing his drink to a page who was surprised to find he was suddenly holding an empty glass, THERE'S JUST ME.”

And this is one that hits like a bag of bricks every time.

The image shows a hand holding a book - in the foreground can be seen a woven blanket, in the background a dark green painted wall. The fingernails of the hand are painted black. The book is Mort, the fourth of the Discworld novels by the late, great, wonderful Sir Pterry Pratchett

Quote from Discworld novel “Mort”: “In a landscape that owed nothing to time and space, which appeared on no map, which existed only in those far reaches of the multiplexed cosmos known to the few astrophysicists who have taken really bad acid, Mort spent the afternoon helping Albert plant out broccoli. It was black, tinted with purple.”

I can’t explain why, but this passage in Mort is one of my most favorite quotes ever.

#discworldmarathon read 3/41 — Equal Rites! It’s my fourth read and it’s just as fun as the first. And heartwarming too! Mort is next, but it will have to be in 2025

Discworld marathon continues! 2/41, The Light Fantastic. Reread almost 10 years since the first read. Enjoyed it tremendously. Just so much fun to watch the book universe form.

1 down, 40 to go! The Color of Magic is reread. Turns out my first read of this novel was 10 years ago, how symbolic lol. I enjoyed this reread tremendously. Yes, this book is indeed very chaotic, I forgot how wild a ride it is, but oh, so much fun!
