Während ich am Schreibtisch sitze und von diesem endlosen Sandstrand in Durness träume, ziehen dort oben in Schottland dramatische Wolken über türkisfarbenes Wasser – und ein paar Glückliche stapfen tatsächlich durch genau diese Szenerie, die ich mir nur in Gedanken ausmalen kann. Die Ironie: Meine Kopfreise ist vermutlich trockener, aber definitiv weniger spektakulär als die Realität an diesem wilden, schottischen Küstenabschnitt. While I'm stuck at my desk dreaming of this endless sandy beach in Durness, dramatic clouds are rolling over turquoise water up there in Scotland – and a few lucky souls are actually trudging through the very scenery I can only imagine in my mind. The irony: my mental journey is probably drier, but definitely less spectacular than the reality of this wild Scottish coastline

My friends from Durness are coming to Skye on Saturday and I am so looking forward to seeing them.
Während dramatische Wolken am Himmel ein episches Schauspiel zwischen Sonnenschein und drohendem Unwetter aufführen, spazieren tapfere Gestalten am Strand von Durness entlang, als wäre das türkisfarbene Wasser und der goldene Sand das normalste der Welt in Schottland. Die Szenerie wirkt wie eine Tropenkulisse, die sich nur versehentlich in die schottischen Highlands verirrt hat – inklusive der obligatorischen dramatischen Beleuchtung, die jeden Moment in einen Regenguss umschlagen könnte.

Rispond Harbour is made up of a collection of listed buildings dating back to the 18th century. Clouds in the background. White houses surrounding the sea inlet which forms the harbour.

I usually stay here when I visit Durness.
It’s on private land though walkers can still access the area around the housing.
The best thing about it is the privacy on a busy part of the #NC500 route.
