Small to medium butterfly whose dorsal wing is brown with oriented white spots with darker edges. It has brown eyes and the chrysalis it clings to looks like patterned papyrus. Although it appears it has no abdomen my iPhone shot from a slightly different angle reveals that that anatomy is normal. I planted several passion flower vines over the last 2 seasons and the volunteers have run amok with the spikey caterpillars (cats) decimating them. We are now getting many chrysalises and new butterflies. This cat left his vine, went across the walk and climbed up that wire just visible for the landscape lighting light sensor. He is at least 6 feet from the nearest vine 8-9ft walking. .
