A five-lined blue-tailed skink is the subject of the photo and sits vertically in the center. This small lizard creature has a gorgeous bright blue tail and 5 white lines on its darker blue/black back. Four legs and feet are showing in a sort of crouched position, and the skink’s head is looking right. The background and underneath the lizard is a mottled white/gray/black sidewalk with occasional pieces of green grass strewn around.

While visiting my family’s old farmhouse homestead in Virginia this 5-lined blue-tailed skink greeted me on the sidewalk. I marveled at its beauty… a work of art by Mother Nature!

This big, lovely skink was sunning on a tree by my front porch. I think it's a five-lined skink. Held still long enough for me to get a pic and then vanished. It was a good 6 in long. loc- Tampa, FL.
