Imagine you’re high above Egypt, looking out the window of an airplane. Below you unfolds a vast, golden desert - dry and endless, stretching far into the distance. Small, scattered clouds drift between you and the land, casting soft shadows that dance across the sand. To one side, the coastline curves gently where the earth meets a deep, shimmering expanse of blue sea. The contrast is striking: the warm tones of the desert and the cool richness of the water, separated by a clean, elegant edge. Above the ocean, too, small white clouds float, dotting the surface like flecks of light. High above it all, the sky gradually shifts from a hazy glow near the horizon to a deep, velvety blue at the top of the frame - a clear sign of the cruising altitude. Somewhere in the jungle of Borneo, a bridge stretches across a small river. The bridge looks worn and improvised - built from rusted steel beams and loosely hanging railings made of metal bars. The surface is made of wooden planks laid crosswise, with two narrow tracks of lengthwise boards where vehicle tires are meant to run. At the center of the bridge stands an old, dust-covered truck loaded with rocks. It was once painted light blue, but the color has faded with time and dirt. All around, dense tropical vegetation presses in - low greenery lines the riverbanks, while to the right of the bridge and in the background, tall jungle growth rises thick and vibrant.

An adventurous jungle road cutting through dense green - a simple bridge connecting remote paths in Borneo’s hinterland.

Imagine you’re standing on a tropical coast at sunrise. It’s still mostly dark, and everything appears in soft outlines. In the foreground, you can see the silhouette of palm branches reaching in from the side, along with some low bushes. In the distance, there’s a calm bay, with a steep hillside faintly visible on the right, marking the edge of the coastline. The far end of the bay is framed by a single mountain, behind which the sun is just beginning to rise. The sun itself isn’t visible yet, but a warm yellow light glows behind the peak and spreads into the sky. That light also reflects on the still surface of the bay, turning the nearby water golden. The photo captures a young orangutan sitting on the ground, viewed from above. His head is tilted upward, and his mouth is wide open. One of his hands rests on his chin, with fingers placed at the corners of his mouth, almost as if he is deliberately pulling it open. His upper teeth are visible, with a dark coating along the gumline - he could probably use a bit of dental care. A few small, green plant pellets, about the size of peppercorns, are still lingering in his mouth from feeding. The scene appears somewhat dramatic, but in reality, the little orangutan was quite the actor.

“Kute”, a young orangutan from an orphanage, put on quite a show during feeding time. He made it very clear that there was still plenty of room inside (!) his mouth for much more food!
