Designed by Duff and McKissack, it opened as La Scala in 1912 and seated 1,000 people. Its auditoriun was divided into two smaller screens in 1976, with a third added in the former cafe area in 1978 before finally closing in 1984.

It seems plans are finally afoot to re-open the former Lyceum Cinema on Govan Road in Glasgow. Designed by McNair and Elder in a stunning Streamlined Moderne style, it was built in 1938.
