Geese and goslings on a pond

"I'm Getting my Ducks in a Row," she said, excitedly pointing to her 'ducks' paddling around the pond.
I didn't have the heart to tell her they were geese.

"I am getting my ducks in a row," she said with a giggle.
"Next Tuesday, must surely, I'll have reworked this drivel!"

You see, she was confident, despite all of her frazzle.
Just a little more polish and her chapter would dazzle.

Bailey rubbed her face when she saw the destruction of the SWA base. "This base has been here for decades and has survived the Cold War, but a few months with you it committed suicide," she said.
"You don't have to rub it in!" Cosmo said.
"I'm getting my ducks in a row, more like a circus." #hbp127

The landscaper finished arranging several wooden ducks along the edge of the decking and got up to stand beside her.

"I'm, or I was, getting my ducks in a row. Thought I'd give you some from my woodwork shop—I hope you like them."

I was getting my ducks in a row when they broke out in a row. It started as a polite disagreement, then escalated into wing-flapping and beak-jabbing. I tried easing tensions with breadcrumbs, but they spat them out, honking, 'These ain't fries!' That’s when I realized they were seagulls.

Must get my ducks in a row
They are all over the place
When I am taking a bath
For my tail there is no space

One of these rubber duckies
Will soon slide down on my face
I may look quite chill right now
But would lose it in that case

I had a plan. A simple one.
Line up my ducks. Keep things neat.
No chaos, no fuss—just order.

But one spun in circles,
another took off.
One found a puddle,
and belly-flopped in.
Another,
stole my sandwich.

I waved, I whistled,
I begged.
They flapped, they quacked,
they carried on.

Morning was the best part of the day. The quiet, the sunrise, the cool pond, Jemmy loved them all.

Less lovely were the endless quacks as her flock awakened. Worse still was the obnoxious, deafening honk of the hanger-on in the back row. Jemmy sighed & began the count.

Duck.

Duck.

Goose. #hbp127

Vandor searched his brother's face for surprise.

"Dravidian, when you took in your students, you finally yielded to fate."

His brother smirked. "I'm getting my ducks in a row, like you did."

Vandor sighed. "Yes, as it was with my confidants. We all are bound by blood purpose."

* if you ask, he'll say: I'm just getting my ducks in a row...

** and Top Turtle Tim loves the planet of Canaduh--that's why those last two on the list have to go...

*** and the list is long. Fortunately his poisons shelf, like him, is infinite

Godspeed, Tim. Godspeed.

Some may not be able to #fathom the enigmatic ways of celestial entity Tim, Timelord and all-around Top Turtle.
Right now, he is re-labelling his poisons collection: Poo-tin, the Orange Goblin, Elan Muskmelon, Drug Ford, Peepee Pierre...
Slow, painful and slow, slow...

Jill watched Jack meticulously sorting his Legos by size and color. “What’re you doing?” she asked.

“What’s it look like I’m doing? I’m getting my ducks in a row,” he said.

Jill scoffed. “They look like Legos to me.”

"Look! I've finally got my ducks in a row. Now I can do anything!"
"You know that it's just a figure of speech?"
"I didn't have to buy and train a dozen ducks?"
"No, but I'm certainly impressed you trained them to line up by color and size."
"Do you want to buy a duck? I'll cut you a deal."

The snowblower choked again. The man reached in & pulled a clump of bones & organs from its teeth. The others squawked & flapped their wings so close to the blades.“You prepare & prepare but, in doing so, you make it so damn easy.” The teacher continued making pâté with all my ducks in a row. #hbp127

I'm getting my ducks in a row
Or at least I'm trying
They keep running around
Quacking in protest
I grab one
Another bites me from behind
I would say I don't mind
But that shit hurts
My mouth blurts
Every curse word
You can imagine
My brain says I shouldn't
So ..
Fly duckies fly!

One by one, the unfortunate women were brought to the river bank.
Proudly displaying their terrified victims like prize fish, the captors strutted next to the men attaching the stools to their pivot posts, each next to the other.
'I'm getting my ducks in a row,' the witchfinder said.

I'm getting my ducks in a row
She sang as she wielded the hoe.
Then, off to the market i'll go
Once i have all my ducks in a row!

(Sorry, prose fell asleep this a.m.)

I’m not out of the woods
but I am off the cliff
I can’t see in the clear
but a pathway appears
if I follow it,
walking
away from the edge
-
I can hear
the wild ocean
she’s calling me
jump, dive and drown
-
we shall see
first I’ll follow this path
where I land I can’t say
maybe night time
or day

either way
it’s a new thing
this forested path
I enjoy making
progress at last

Ruth was tired of many things. Being used, mistreated, and tossed out like trash by some men in charge who she knew did no wonders for her already unstable sanity. So when she eventually managed to collect enough receipts on them, she decided:
“I’m getting my ducks in a row.”

The elementary schoolers pooled around the various exhibits in gleeful chaos the entire field trip while their teacher chat up a fine docent half his age.
When his alarm went off, he took out a duck call and blew into it, absurdly, thought the docent.
"What is that, what are you doing?"
