Heathland Friday fieldwork!

A trip to the lowland heaths of Cheshire last week, collecting more soil samples for
@ukceh.bsky.social

It'll be interesting to see what these samples show about how different habitats recover from excess Nitrogen deposition

Convivial Heritage: A Disruptive Archaeology Of Species Coexistence | Archaeological Dialogues | Cambridge Core Convivial Heritage: A Disruptive Archaeology Of Species Coexistence

Paper out by Shumon Hussain and Monika Stobiecka on conviviality thinking in archaeology and heritage landscapes. Anthropogenic #heathlands, modified for millennia by wildlife and livestock & fire regimes could be another example of a deep past ecology of #multispecies co-existence, co-shaping.

Because it was sunny but super windy today (aka because we are wimps from not-the-North of Germany), we took a walk to the local #heathlands this afternoon, which lies protected in the middle of the #island of #Hiddensee. I love grasses, mosses, and herbs, so this was a real treat! πŸŒ¬πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸšΆπŸΌπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈ
