Paper out by Shumon Hussain and Monika Stobiecka on conviviality thinking in archaeology and heritage landscapes. Anthropogenic #heathlands, modified for millennia by wildlife and livestock & fire regimes could be another example of a deep past ecology of #multispecies co-existence, co-shaping.
The secretive #woodlark can be hard to spot.
It nests on the ground on our southern #heathlands and uses scattered #trees and #woodland edges for lookout posts.

Because it was sunny but super windy today (aka because we are wimps from not-the-North of Germany), we took a walk to the local #heathlands this afternoon, which lies protected in the middle of the #island of #Hiddensee. I love grasses, mosses, and herbs, so this was a real treat! 🌬🚶🏻♀️🚶🏼🚶♀️☀️
