Historian friends, I'd be thrilled if you'd check out my article on how colonial planners wielded emerging medical knowledge to reinforce land commodification and social segregation in Egypt's Port Fouad, ca 1920s, co-authored with Mohamed Gamal-Eldin. #HisSci #HisMed #EnvHis #EnvHums #UrbanHist

I feel the same every time someone tells me to bundle up so I won't catch a cold. Sure, germ theory has been around for 150+ years. But the environmental theories that came before haven't entirely lost their grip. #HisSci #HisMed

What a great read! I just loved this book on Gutenberg and on each and everyone of all known "Gutenbergs". I'm a bit blown away by this book, the detail, the writing styl, the sheer joy of researching the history of print and book provenance.

In a library a large grey leather topped table is spelt out '10K' using a combination of long weighted book 'snakes' and oblong cardboard items. Some of these are blue, yellow and red. In the background are bookshelves and a seated life sized statue of Charles Darwin. The statue is reading a book and is all white. You can also see a photocopier and antique looking wooden ladder.
