So, of course, I drew multiple armors and this was actually the second third character I drew for this AU right after Spider-Man and Spinneret! This aptly dubbed 'X-Armor' is from a story arc and era of my Iron Man timeline where he finds himself stranded in space and is infected with a virus that aimed to fuse his flesh with his armor. The main design inspiration was Samus Aran and the Ultimate Iron Man armor from Earth-1610; the only real change I would make is to make the crotch piece white to flesh better with the torso and legs, but you and I can use our imaginations! I wanted this armor to feel bulky and huge, which is why Tony is more zoomed out along with the reason being the pose; I always liked Iron Men with big, bulky armor because... He's Iron Man. Of course he would have bulky armor.
To fit with the theme of Iron Man being primary color and white as a secondary, I decided to make the MK3 WAR MACHINE a play on the X-Armor, hence the haphazard name of "Non-Alive" because Rhodey is sporting metal and bolts rather than a sentient liquid. I also decided to do away with the shiny armor details as I always thought of Rhodey to be more of a matte paint finish rather than a gloss because of his background in the military (Air Force, which is still a thing in the Bootleg-Verse). WAR MACHINE has a big amount of weaponry; he's got the iconic shoulder gattling cannon, missiles on his legs and forearms, the stun baton from Civil War, mini-guns on his wrists, and four clawed arms for extra gun play or hand-to-hand combat WHILE in gun-play. He's decked out.
Rescue was the last of the Iron Battalion that I drew, and it shows with the art style. Anyways, Rescue is purple and white, and the first of these armors to support that color scheme, so you could say that the X-Armor and the WAR MACHINE MK3 are callbacks to the good ol' Rescue armor! Rescue isn't as supplied as Iron Man and WAR MACHINE are, seeing how Pepper wouldn't see much action. She would fight with Tron-like disks as melee weapons alongside normal Repulsor technology for flight and combat. Her Repulsors also have healing capabilities that Tony was able to make, because of course! So Rescue is the Healer/Support of the trio, which is actually cool to think that the Iron Battalion are a perfect three-person team!
