I had planned to make the painting more "peaceful" (the blue square) but I think it was more rewarding to experiment with the colors and the contrast of the lights.

Dramatic cliffs stand on the edge of the North Atlantic which crashes onto the rocks at the base of the cliff. In the distance the rocks of Gloup Holm and Ramna stacks stand out against the horizon. The sky and sea are blue and dotted with dozens of sea birds wheeling in the air.

A small fishing boat chugs across a very sparkly sea, heading South. At the bottom right the rocks at the foot of Sumburgh Head stick out into the North Sea. In the far distance the sparkle of the sea and the hazy blue sky meet at the horizon.

Black and White. A Scots Pine stands to to the right of the picture, it's roots are exposed as they snake out to find grip on the rocky lake shore. The Island in the middle distance is densely covered with trees and is reflected in the still waters of the lake.
