A drum cam video from the latest Mistwalker show at Foufs earlier this year. This track is always an endurance test with the sustained blasts in the middle.

The pin brooch that proved Vikings made it to North America (excepting Greenland obviously). A Norse occupant of LβAnse aux Meadows in Newfoundland lost this in the hearth in early 11thC. Proof settlers from Scandinavia. I saw this last week in @theroomsnl.bsky.social β¦βͺ #lanseauxmeadows #vikings
Two identical statues, one year apart. First is statue of Leif Erikssen at Brattahlid (Qassiarsuk) in Greenland, where he set out for America. 2nd is version of same statue at LβAnse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, which I visited today. This marks end point of his journey #brattahlid #lanseauxmeadows
Very few finds found at Norse site of LβAnse aux Meadows in Canada due to site being deliberately abandoned early in 11thC. These two, however, a spindle whorl & a broken knitting needle mean it was very likely that Norse women were present in the settlement #lanseauxmeadows #norse #viking #vikings
Standing by one of the big longhouses excavated at LβAnse aux Meadows, only Norse site known in North America (except Greenland). This house had 4 rooms, with private accommodation for chief, a communal living space & an iron working area. An absolute thrill to visit today #lanseauxmeadows #vikings
LβAnse aux Meadows, the only Norse site known in North America (apart from Greenland). It was excavated in the 1960s and gives a remarkable snapshot of life there, with the settlement occupied on and off for a ten year period over 30 years at the start of 11thC #lanseauxmeadows
A view of the bronze figures atop a hill. The view from above was clear and spectacular
The specialty cone of the Nymph Cafe, the Sculpin Cone
A bronze statue that was installed in 2002. The piece is meant to be an interpretive one.
The sod Longhouse. It had a living quarters, crafting space, and a spot for loom weaving
Today we had a long boat ride then a drive out to #Vinland. We went to the #NymphCafe and spent some time at #lanseauxmeadows national park. The National Park was so beautiful.
So I went to Newfoundland. And I think I may have taken one of the best photos of my life while out on a Zodiac tour searching for icebergs. Amazing what a little accidental forced perspective can do. #icebergs #newfoundland #lanseauxmeadows
Personal video walkthrough from a reconstructed Norse / Viking settlement in L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

A black and white photograph of an old earthen or sod-covered structure with an open wooden door. The entrance is framed with rough-hewn logs, and the thick walls appear to be made of stacked turf or compacted soil. Overgrown grass covers the roof, blending the structure with its natural surroundings. The open door reveals a dark interior with a dirt floor and faint details of the inside. The weathered wood of the door and frame shows signs of age and exposure to the elements. The image has a rustic, historical, or survivalist atmosphere.

The video shares the story of the first Europeans to land in North America - the Vikings who settled at what is now L'Anse aux Meadows.

In the late 10th or early 11th century, a group of Vikings, likely originating from Greenland, established a temporary settlement at LβAnse aux Meadows. brantamedia.com/2024/09/18/l...
