Pileated woodpecker fella enjoying a tree stump in a neighbor’s yard. In this photo he’s looking up (or maybe swallowing a critter.) In general he seemed to be enjoying splashing around in the sawdust.

Pileated woodpecker, half (or so) moon, grackle, bunny.

I think this is only the second time I’ve seen a pileated. He didn’t seem to care at all that I was not too far away taking photos.

Back when we were on FB we did #LocalAwe posts around themes like clouds, spiderwebs, rocks, and leaves that were exactly this. Awe is great brain chemistry but we can’t all go to space to find it. A good deep look at a leaf or a long look at a great cloud can get there in good ways too.
