A lovely little marquetry box with a geometric design and walnut veneer, saved from the bin, the inside has been lined and the outside refinished, it has a few signs of age, but then it is the best part of 100 years old, useful for storing treasure.

Six different types of wood veneers. They were not labeled so I don’t know the types, or else I’d name them. But a couple are striped, a couple are very light, one medium brown, and one very dark.

I bought a box of small veneer cuts to start learning marquetry. I’m so thrilled about this!
The goal is to tie this skill and some painting together for the music boxes.

(If you’re good at identifying wood species, let’s be friends! 😄 I’d love to hear some guesses on these.)
