Former Ultravox front man, Midge Ure, plays a guitar and sings on a small stage. His right hand is blurred from the strumming motion and his head is tilted upward, his mouth wide as he belts it out to the microphone. Behind him, a dark curtain fills most of the background. to the extreme right, a blackboard that lists upcoming shows is only partially revealed. A copyright symbol, at the bottom right, precedes my name. This live performance was on March 3, 2015, and I was there with 20 friends and family members as we celebrated my 50th birthday. Midge wished me a happy birthday at the end of the show, as we chatted. I joked that it was nice of him to perform for my birthday (we followed one another on social media in the months leading up to the show, and he told me "you worked your ass off" to promote the show). They say you shouldn't meet your heroes but my five-minute chat with this music legend didn't disappoint.
