For the first time since I started birding I passed 200 bird species seen in a year with this lifer pectoral sandpiper at Kilnsea Wetlands last week.

Well I gave in and went Hudsonian godwit at titchfield, really lucky to see the wings open and see the black arm pits, size difference is a bit too. Hated the seat blocking for hours and unwillingness to let others see though!! Just why 🤷♂️☹️☹️☹️ #hantsbirds #my200birdyear
Went down to Normandy lagoon last night for a bit of counting for the project down there, amazing to see so many young Avo’s running about must of been 20+ managed a quick dartford too, also managed to break the #my200birdyear with a curlew sandpiper, #hantsbirds
🌲🐦 Our latest adventure was with Chris, who discovered birding after moving to Bulgaria and needed ONE British bird. Check out the photo story here! wix.to/MhfcTNV #Birdwatching #NatureLovers #My200BirdYear #Birding #BirdPhotography #BritishWildlife
First two birds of the year......Feral Pigeon and Wood Pigeon!
What are yours?
Happy New Year #My200BirdYear
A very rare pre dawn to dusk day out birding today. 6 year old legs tagging along all the way. 5 new for the year gets me to 200 for a GB list in #2024 and 225 in total. More than happy signing off for the year on that. #patchbirding #my200birdyear
male Bearded Reedling
juvenile Dartford Warbler
It was fun birding with young birder Chester and his family last week, tracking down Dartford Warbler and Bearded Reedling by lunchtime!

Ring of fury: Seeing a Ringed Plover fighting with two Little Ringed Plovers was an unexpected way to compare these species side-by-side! #birding #my200birdyear #ukbirding
Sparrowhawk
Reed Bunting
Mistle Thrush
Great Crested Grebe
The weather was ideal for a short loop around Richmond Park with Howard, Arnie, Beth and Laurel from Boston, MA, with 40 species recorded #birding #my200birdyear
A Goshawk stopped us in our tracks while we were looking for Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers today! #birding #My200BirdYear #ukbirding
My,sometimes, annual #adventcalendar of favourite species sightings from the year starts with the most recent. A lifer and the one to get me to #my200birdyear the humble snow bunting
Man use tools, man repaired tripod, man back in action with scope just in time for everywhere to be too wet to brave venturing out. Two to go #my200birdyear
#my200birdyear is not that impressive to hardcore birders but as I barely get out for real birding (&almost always with a4yr old in tow) so I’m fairly pleased to be sitting on 198 so far. Looking forward to 200 so I can just enjoy birding next year w/o any obsessive target! 🤞
Up to 179. Not awful considering I get out about once a month and always have a 4 year old in tow #my200birdyear #Casualbirding As long as I see spoonbills and hoopoe once a year I'm happy
Slowly getting there, 152 species so far. Only able to get out about once a month so other than incidental birding its not too shabby. Crane, hoopoe, stilt, cirl bunting a few highlights #my200birdyear
up to 96 on #my200birdyear after a 7am start @ryeharbour_NR. Pick of the day was raven and twite.
My #adventcalendar of species sightings has a twist for day 21. Both 1st sightings in UK for me this morning no less @Natures_Voice Dungeness. #my200birdyear. Digiscoped with #iphone6. Great white egret& long eared owl. owl is there I promise @Recordshotmyars @BirdWatchingMag

Day 18 of my #AdventCalendar of top #2017 #my200birdyear species. My bogey bird, lifer & absolute stunner, probably the bird I was most excited about seeing this year. Bearded tit/bearded reedling @ElmleyNNR . @BirdWatchingMag @BirdGuides @_BTO
African spoonbill is one of mt top 3 birds so day 17 of #my200birdyear advent calendar of top sightings this year is my first Eurasian spoonbill @Natures_Voice @rspb_southeast Cliffe Pools @BirdWatchingMag
Day 15 of my #AdventCalendar of top #2017 #my200birdyear species. Another lifer, this time recently @WWTLondon Wetland Centre. A top bird in a top bittern. @BirdWatchingMag @BirdGuides @_BTO
@urbanbirder @EuropeanParks @ZooBasel @_BTO @BirdGuides @BirdWatchingMag Day 14 of #my200birdyear #adventcalendar of fave sightings in 2017 is of the warty variety. A random pond in the centre of Bran Castle, supposedly the inspiration for Bram Stokers #Dracula. A pond full of toad....
Day 13 of #my200birdyear #adventcalendar of fave sightings in 2017 is the most impressive urban bird I've seen. The white stork in Basel. @urbanbirder @EuropeanParks @ZooBasel @_BTO @BirdGuides @BirdWatchingMag
Almost forgot day 12 of my #adventcalendar of favourite species sightings of 2017 #my200birdyear. I’ve been sitting on this one long enough. An epic and awe inspiring sighting in the Carpathian Mountains. My first ever brown bear. Not my photo. @Mammal_Society @S4C_Carpathians
Day 11 of my #adventcalendar of favourite species sightings in 2017 #my200birdyear. It has to be said, a rariy I found somewhat underwhelming @KentWildlife Oare Marshes & lifer. The long billed dowitcher. @BirdGuides @BirdingToday @BirdWatchingMag @RSPBbirders
Another deviation from feather but to arachnids this time. Day 10 of my#AdventCalender of fave sightings of 2017. Woodlouse spiders interacting in the garden this summer #my200birdyear @Buzz_dont_tweet @BBCSpringwatch @WildlifeTrusts @Natures_Voice @bugboybaker

#my200birdyear up to 125. 165 for U.K. Vertebrates this year. Need mink and weasel for my mustelid full house
