Our writing retreat was successful. A completely new take on a huge project we couldn't make heads or tails of. We have a structure and a draft. Now it's polishing time. I can reveal: historical #maps & stats, #grasslands and restoration #biodiversity #plants #landscape 🧪⚒️🌿
Thanks to NEO 🇬🇷 #natgeoSU
Emptied my rucksack of woolly, slightly soggy clothes to repack for the next work trip. Going to our field station NEO in Greece to promote #research and #education. #natgeoSU ⚒️ #earthscience #biogeography 🌿

Department seminar series continues... Ian Brown presents his scientific career and science. Perfect! "Glaciologists are mad as Hatters" 😂

Both heads of the department taught classes at the same time today. Must be a first? @stefanwastegard won with numbers of students in Quaternary geology. I had a dedicated bunch in the master program in Landscape ecology plus two lecturers

Day 3 tors, granite, gravel, weathering, carbon cycle, plant adaptation, blanket bog, conservation, pine trees. What is the difference between #geology and #physicalgeography? Students have to choose today
Now we are windswept & groovy

Lots of chatter and tail fluttering when the Jackdaws inspect their nest in the oak outside my office window. Most of the time they just sit and look into the hole (1st photo). @Stockholm_Uni #natgeoSU

Day 4: Physical Geography projects in Greece. We started with Polylimnios gorge, invasive species, soft bedrocks and landforms, coastal erosion. Interesting to return once a year and see erosion on action. Some dedicated company too.
#natgeoSU #fieldexcursion @Stockholm_Uni
From the terraces in the clouds to dunes and erosion on the beach our brave brilliant students worked on their Physical Geography projects on day 3 of our excursion to Greece.
We always have company

Physical Geography excursion day 2
The "art" of observations and sketching (signs of erosion), slip surfaces , screes, earthquake (effects), wildfires, the last of the Cyclamen, shepherd with flock. Artemisia and Kato Verga in the Taygethos #Greece #NatgeoSU @Stockholm_Uni
First day on Physical Geography excursion @Stockholm_Uni
Fault lines, cave, olive monoculture, badlands, rocks, wetlands, climate adaptation, vegetation, history (Sfakteria & Navarino bay). A few plants too - as a bonus 😉
