At Crystal Cove State Beach yesterday, surprised to see this female Autographa californica (aka Alfalfa looper) noctuid moth furiously nectaring on Deerweed. Only the second observation there on iNaturalist. #noctuid #moths #mothing #lepidoptera #nature

When you leave a weed to grow…. www.ukmoths.org.uk/species/cucu... it supports n=9 noctuid moths. Common in England not so much in Wales. #moths #noctuid
Four fuzzy moth faces. Mostly tans, grey and browns and some with fern like antennas. One reminds me of a bison with white horns.
This old compilation of a few fuzzy moth faces is prompting me to get the lights out! The time is nigh.
