This is extremely soft yarn, I hope it doesn't pill too much. Fun pattern, too--it's free on Ravelry. The listing there is rather... eye-catching, I guess? It is modeled atop the head of the designer, and that's all he's wearing. A-yup. Friends, that is a lovely man.

The Skystorm shawl designed by Stephen West in two purples so far—a light purple at the top and a darker shade at the bottom, neither known but they’re at the least wool. The final darkest shade is Madelinetosh Sock. I got all three in that massive batch of fantastic yarn I got on Freecycle. I really like West’s simpler designs. Well, I really like non-Stephen colorways. The originals for this shawl were not bad at all, but many of his other patterns, yikes, at least to my eyes. Obviously they’re just fine to others, since he sells kits.

The yarn is Malabrigo Sock in colorway Fortaleza, which is a deep blue, magenta and green variegated yarn. Close to You is a free pattern, and I love it. Louisa, No 2 Kid, saw me knitting it and snapped it up.

A toe-up sock knit in Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock, medium gray for the toe and colorway Aslan—soft browns, grays and cream variegated yarn—for the foot. There is a design of fair isle K’s at the toe. The toe increases are not at the sides; they are paired on either side of a 12-stitch…front panel, I guess you’d call it? It works like a standard toe, the increases are just placed differently.

Hat with a dark gray ribbing and a light gray and orange main color. The orange is in blips across the gray, dyed as part of the yarn; when my friend Kathe comes to an orange part in the gray, she makes a flower stitch out of the orange. The orange flowers are thus randomly speckled through the light gray hat. Pretty cool, no?
