A gorgeous scene at Whistler & Blackcomb. The summer sky is deep blue but largely covered by a huge mass of a white billowing cloud over a slightly snow-capped mountain range which looks over a deep green pine tree forest at the far side of a turquoise coloured lake. The trees look smaller as they continue into the distance climbing the mountains. The picture is framed on either side through two huge fir trees and a few smaller ones connecting them at the bottom.

The image shows a large tree growing on a rock outcropping in a marsh. This is an Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) – a large conifer which flourishes throughout the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. It is the tallest of our native evergreens, often reaching 130 feet in height and four feet in diameter. This species is considered to be one of the most valuable trees in eastern North America. It is one of the signature trees of the Adirondacks.
