“I would love if you would enlighten me,” that lovely one said. “If you don’t mind my asking, what might be the reason that a fine, fresh-faced fellow like yourself, so lordly, so polite, and lauded by all – Well, wherever chivalry is shown, all are sure to praise the essence of honor, the true art of love! When men tell of the trials of any true knight both title and text are portrayals of love: How each for his own dear love offered his life, endured great dangers for his darling’s sake, and overcame them by his courage until his cares vanished and he found bliss home in bed, bountifully earned. And you are known as the noblest knight of your generation. Your honor and importance are everywhere renowned, yet I have sat by your side, Sir, at least twice without witnessing even one word from your lips relating to love: neither less nor more. Shouldn’t anybody so eager to do exactly as he vowed Be willing to show how wooing is done, Or share tips she can trust on the ways of true love? What? Are you some innocent whom everyone admires, Or do you deem me too dull to dally with a while? No way! I came alone; I sit to see how well you play. Come now, show your wit while my lord is far away.”
