I have found FIVE, yes five, praying mantis egg cases (called ootheca) in my yard so far.
I love finding them, they will hatch sometime in June and I will be the foster parent to hundreds of baby mantis!

So excited to see what emerges from this praying mantis cocoon I found! It is actually called an "ootheca" and is a stiff, foam-like egg case produced by the female in the fall. It protects 50–300+ eggs through winter.
