Eighteen partially painted 28mm miniatures representing Lee's Legion from the AWI/American Revolutionary War. Figures wear short green jackets, bearskin crested "Tarleton" helmets and white breeches.

The recently completed AWI riflemen have me thinking about what to paint next.

Timber footbridge spray painted a dark brown.

My first time using the enamel wood wash from AK Interactive. Everything else was Colourforge, Vallejo or Army Painter.

Three unpainted white metal 28mm castings of AWI/Revolutionary War American infantry, the cast-on cocked hats have been removed and replaced with peaked caps to represent American light infantry of the period.

Some Sunday night hobby fiddling.

AWI continentals by @brigadegames.bsky.social and @hicksy.bsky.social. I've cut away the cast on cocked hats and replaced them with plastic peaked caps from the Perry box. They'll pass as Corps of Light Infantry.

A round base, a 28mm mounted Confederate horseholder with three horses

Gluing these four miniatures to a base, and getting sand and PVA on it is the entirety of the hobby achievement for this week since Monday night.

Well, that and looking at my CoC2 PDF for about ten minutes.

I'd say that's as far as I can go with paint and washes. I'd highlighted the wicker on the end gabions, but that was too much of a contrast with the integral originals, which're sculpted differently.

Eight 28mm American Civil War casualty figures, undercoated in a warm off-white colour each on a 40mm diameter round base.

Three American Civil War casualty figures, painted as Union infantry with dark blue jackers and light blue trousers, each on a 40mm round base with grass, rocks and tufts.

As I had the VMC Iraqi Sand out, I finished up some 40mm bases and glued on some Wraithbone sprayed casualty figures. Hope to get them looking like their painted counterparts this weekend.

Wickerwork is a mix of VMC 979 and 822 - German Camo Dark Green and German Camo Black Brown. Timber is the same, but with Army Painter Fanatic Dark Grey mixed in.

Next, a fairly heavy drybrush of VMC 876 - Brown Sand.

I know it doesn't look like much of a change in the attached pics (thanks lighting 😐) but this has definitely lifted the thing and provided some nice effects "in person".

As soon as the Wraithbone spray had fully dried, it was time for some actual colour.

I used Vallejo Model Colour 826 (German Camo Med Brown) for the first layer, and slapped that on fairly heavily before leaving the whole thing to dry overnight.

The following evening, I took advantage of some ideal conditions for spraying and hit the piece with a coat of GW Wraithbone to tie it all together.

This is my favourite stage of a project like this, where the various elements begin to look cohesive.

The next step, naturally, was PVA and grit.

I stuck a few singly based Warfare Miniatures late 17th century artillerymen around the gun and was pleased enough with the result, before removing them and the gun and leaving the piece to dry overnight. 4/

With the Gorilla glue hardened, the next step (a day later) was to start slathering on some earth texture, and extending the planks underneath the gun.

A split coffee stirrer obliged for the latter, and the Vallejo Earth Texture was allowed to dry.

One thing that had become apparent was that I needed more of an area on which to set singly based crew figures.

Gorilla wood glue is great as wood glue, but also as a sort of filler, as the pictures hopefully demonstrate. Applied and left to dry. 2/
