While #RobertBParker works promote a gray morality, showing ppl to be multi-faceted, able to find surprising commonality, Quirk is RBP's model good cop. He can't pal around w/ Hawk and Vinnie. He may respect them, but he'd arrest them.
Spenser, OTOH, has helped Hawk avoid arrest.

Many #RobertBParker characters are honorable; they aren't necessarily friends. Hawk and Vinnie Morris are Spenser's friends, but they're also straight-up criminals while Spenser is not. Definitely Hawk and Vinnie are not Quirk's friends.

I always have ideas for #Spenser #Movies . Latest one is to adapt a novel from #RobertBParker 's prime, LOOKING FOR RACHEL WALLACE. It's not one of his many poetic titles yet it's distinct and unmistakably identified w/ Parker, and I think it can be brought from 1980 to the present fairly intact.

Earlier in the #Spenser novels, #RobertBParker was all about pitting political correctness against a genuine higher good. WASP ex-cop Spenser falling in love w/ Jewish academic Susan and being best friends w/ black legbreaker Hawk was entirely intentional on Parker's part.
