Yet another oddly high price for a military postcard.

This time £88.08. The Scots Greys on horseback during the Liverpool railway strike of 1911.

What was the appeal? Rail strikes or Liverpool history?

Four bidders chased each other up.

In the Greys war diary, they mention surprising German soldiers who were relieved to be captured.
Many on their own MT, including a ‘Mk III’, I suspect it might be this Stug III, photographed by Sgt Oakes, #OTD 2 May 1945.

There’s good coverage of Royal Scots Greys on their advance into Bremen, although some is miscaptioned.
From the same series, Sgt Midgely photographed this Sherman Hybrid, clearly showing the markings the Greys used at this time.

A portrait photo of the head and torso of a soldier of the First World War era. A cavalryman of the Scots Greys. He is wearing a packed cap with an eagle badge. He sports a large moustache twirled to points either side of his face. He is wearing eagle badges on each collar and 6 button on his tunic

A strong chin on this cavalryman from the Scots Grey’s.

First world war era photograph taken by a Brighton photographer.

Looks a bit like the guy that played Tommy Lascelles in “The Crown” tv series.

3 postcard one above the other. All using the same photograph but cropped differently each time. A row of cavalry soldiers holding flags on poles and wearing feather bonnets, sitting atop grey horses.

Another regiment of interest for postcards of the Great War era, is the Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons).

This single image has been reused (at least twice) to make additional cards.

Sir John French inset.

Postcards in my collection.
