I plan to knit four inches so the brim is a solid brown, then continue the ribbing in helical knitting with the opposite end of the second strand. That's the blue end of the yarn on the winder at the back of these photos.

Finally using my homemade niddy noddy to get the kinks out of a sock blank. Using the pvc pipe means that I can get it wet without concern.

Sooo when you unravel a knitted piece, the #yarn is very... um... kinky at first. I #crochet pretty tightly so I need my yarn to behave. I had to frog the #sockblank.

I have two of them; once I wound them into balls, they clearly needed new names.
