Day 2 of the #SUJ Final Conference will explore #AI and youth in journalism. How to empower the next generation? Young journalists from 🇮🇹 and 🇨🇿 discuss their practices and how they think #AI is reshaping journalism. Both speakers explained they adopted a very cautious and ethical approach.

In #Finland, public broadcaster YLE invests in the #wellbeing of their journalists. Managers receive 4-day training to spot the warning signs such as sickness absences or longer working days. Through regular check-ins with their teams, managers have created a more healthy environment to work in #SUJ
Journalists often think that to be good at their jobs, they have to be constantly available and sacrifice their private life. In #Portugal, almost 3/4 of journalists says that the demands of the job make it difficult to find a work-life balance.

The need to change the culture and to find structural solutions to address journalists' #wellbeing is pressing. The conversation about #mentalhealth should be framed as an organisational issue that affects all workers, rather than viewing it as solely an individual or women issue. #SUJ
Many studies show that journalists are workers at high risk of mental health issues due to the nature of their job. Low income, precariousness, poor work-life balance, difficulty to disconnect, create fertile ground for stress, sleep issues, burnout - too often considered as 'part of the job'. #SUJ
