This is a particularly impressive surviving example, and most are much more simple affairs. While I couldn't find a foundry mark on it, it seems like the type of monument the Sun Foundry would have produced.

Many were produced by George Smith's Sun Foundry in the Port Dundas area of the city, and he held several patents for cast-iron grave markers. While they never seemed to quite take off in the way Smith intended, many still exist.

MacKenzie, a cabinetmaker and upholsterer, was a founding partner in the Sun Foundry and was its primary financier when it was created by George Smith in 1858, which may explain why he was given quite such an ornate cast iron memorial.

The recently restored Alexander MacKenzie memorial in the Glasgow Necropolis. Unlike almost all the other memorials in this Victorian cemetery, the MacKenzie memorial is made from cast iron.
