📅 #OTD in AD 293, Galerius was made Caesar by #Diocletian, starting the #Tetrarchy—a 4-ruler system to stabilise the #Empire.Diocletian & Maximian (Augusti), Galerius & Constantius (Caesares). In 306, Constantius died & Constantine was hailed emperor. Maxentius also seized power, trouble ensued.

#OnThisDay in 311 AD, Roman Emperor #Diocletian passed away. Known for stabilizing the empire through his administrative reforms, creating the #Tetrarchy, and his persecution of Christians, he transformed the structure of Roman rule. This marble bust is now in the Istanbul Archaeological Museum.
