Going WAY Back (bc Kay's a dinosaur) (get it??)
I think, for a brief time in my 20s, I got the idea in my head that, because what people responded to the most in my criticism was, like, when I went SUPER hard on something I disliked, that's what I'd be, like, known for? Or that's where I did my best work?
I'm finding in going through these old archived pieces (which I have re-read when initially archiving, and then now, again, in posting here on ReelRank) that I leaned WAY into that meanness, almost in a way that makes me cringe a bit now, just because it's so omnipresent and sweaty, and (at least to me, who knows better), obviously not genuine.
But still. I do it pretty well. I get why people respond to it, lol. To wit:
"This movie is unlikely to be remembered as one of his better ones, or as one of his worst, or remembered at all. Featuring physical sets that are too bizarre to ring true and too cartoonish to inspire awe, jokes that vacillate wildly between too juvenile for adults and too adult for kids, and a throwaway plot that might as well not exist, Lost does not make much of an impression.
In the end, this movie is mediocre and no one will suffer for avoiding it, though many likely will from seeing it."
I was not-yet-22 when I wrote that. Precocious! It's fun sharing the older stuff with a new audience, haha. I stand by my low opinion of this dogshit film ๐ง๐๐๐โโฌ๐โโฌ
Another F--- lol. Loving that!
I ๐ค if I give it 1-star on #Letterboxd or 2.0 on #ReelRank, it equates to an automatic F--- (to quote #TommyBoy: that's NOT a grade they like to give out).
That's pretty fucking satisfying lol, especially for dogshit #Movies I hate like #LandoftheLost: review.reelrank.net/76cb0e07-9ff...
