Helmcken falls with a secondary fall seen just downstream. The large remnants of the ice cone may be seen stained by the runoff from the ledge above.

The view out from the snowpack behind the falls. Should be a great view of the falls from here if the snow was not blocking it. At this point the snowpack was 6 ft in places.

A rainbow forms over the spray from the churning waters just upstream of Helmcken falls. Would likely have been visible over the falls if they had been accessible as well.

Helmcken falls plunges 463 feet surrounded by what remains of its ice cone from the winter.

Helmcken Falls, the tallest (463 ft) #waterfall at #WellsGray park. The main viewpoint requires no #hiking, while the route behind is an easy 5 mi round trip that starts at a nearby parking area. Known for its large snow cone, by 4/25 there was only enough left to block my view from behind.

At approximately 300 feet wide, Dawsons falls is often compared to a smaller Niagara falls.

Side view of Dawson falls from the viewing area. With the river at full strength, some side channels of the falls had to be stepped over even behind the guard rails.

Dawson Falls, next of the three large waterfalls that were accessible when I visited #wellsgray park in mid-April. The hike is all reward, low effort as you walk the short distance from the downstream viewpoint to beside its base. Highwater may put falls in upper viewpoint. #hiking #photography

Moul falls drops 115 feet to the shallow pool below. Snow may be seen downstream along with a trail that takes you behind the falls.

The climb up the stairs on the way back is filled with the sound of flowing water underfoot.

Unnammed fall along Grouse Creek. Stream is about 20 ft wide at this point.

Moul Falls. Easy hike at the beginning of #WellsGray park. Drops 115 ft straight down, while you’ll have to take the stairs. You can go behind the falls on this one, but it was still too landslidey when I was there. Hiked 4/23/25

The roadside attraction of the day is the South end of a Northbound bear, enjoying the spring salad mix. Saw many bears on this day. #photography #nature #naturephotography #blackbear #bear #wellsgray #britishcolumbia #bc #bcparks #bcisbeautiful

Fresh shots (Saturday) of Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park for #WaterfallWednesday. Loved watching the light change.

Always a treat to see and well worth a 2-3 hour detour. Even the "small" waterfall at the base of Helmcken (first shot) is impressive.

#WaterfallWednesay. Made the trip from #Kamloops up to #WellsGray park on Saturday to see #HelmckenFalls. Probably the best combination of cone and snow we’ve seen in the years of coming here.
