«World Hepatitis Day 2025 is marked on 28 July, and this year's global theme is “Hepatitis Can't Wait”» A reminder that action, testing and treatment can't be delayed. Hepatitis B and C are both preventable, treatable, and in many cases, curable yet stigma, limited access to healthcare, and criminalisation continue to stop many people from getting the support they need — specially sex workers, people who inject drugs, and other marginalised communities. For sex workers, navigating healthcare systems that often carry judgement or don't reflect our lived experiences can make regular testing and treatment harder to access. That's why community-led, peer-informed healthcare matters — and why World Hepatitis Day is a crucial reminder to keep pushing for inclusive, non-discriminatory sexual health services as well as comprehensive anti-discrimination protections for sex workers. At SWOP NSW, we stand with our community in calling for better access, better awareness, and the right to healthcare without share or barriers.
